BIOGRAPHY

Haris Abadi Abdul Rahim holds a Masters degree in Fine Art & Technology from Mara University of Technology (UiTM). He hails from the East Coast state of Kelantan, where cultural heritage and traditional activities are still preserved in its own unique way. Despite this, the artist’s calling has been towards new media and sculpture.

His interests in animation and motion graphics drew him to study the traditional elements of traditional shadow puppetry, and Haris has incorporated elements from this field, such as the Pohon Beringin (tree of life) into his new media works. He is considered one of the Malaysian emerging artists that deal comfortably with digital technology in producing artworks.

In 2011, the artist emerged as one of the winners at the Asea Korean Multimedia Competition in Seoul through one of his video mapping installation works. His works have been exhibited in several galleries in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Indonesia and Japan in the last few years.
