Techno-Grounded
3D Projection Mapping on Wall Sculpture

In his show ‘Digital collage’, Ismail Zain had stated that ‘the cultural signs or symbol should not be frozen in its meaning, but it can be reused in other meaning and context’.

In ‘Techno-Grounded’, the element of ‘the universe’ is represented through the rigid, geometric shape of a deconstructed pohon beringin, and yet the idea of temporariness in life is emphasized through visible signs like ‘the tree hotel’ and ’24 hours’. In fact, the name ‘Techno-Grounded’ has already revealed part of the story – grounded by technology, as my personal negative sentiments towards technology.

In another perspective, the artwork, with its technological tools and new media properties, is a self portrait, a self-parody.
