3D Projection on Sculptural Installation
Various Dimension

‘Read the Wingdings’ holds the message on the power of knowledge. The word ‘read’ was applied several times through the animation, emphasizing the power of the word. Referring to surah ‘Al-Alaq’ (which highlighted the importance of the knowledge) as an analogy, I tried to suggests my personal definition of ‘reading’ in the current context throughout the video work. It also emphasizes the various types and medium of communications. In fact, in the overall composition, the augmented layer (the lights) itself is a medium of communication.
The installation was meant to be in a state of neither real nor virtual - by combining the ‘atoms’ and the ‘bits’ using projection mapping, emphasizing a Mixed Reality (MR) ambience, ‘Read the Wingdings’ is trying to question the original meaning of ‘reading’, and its relationship to the current state of Virtual-Reality and Information Technology.
The message was nevertheless aligned with the installation of ready-mades, a chair, a study table, a whiteboard and several books - an attempt to let the audience penetrate into a situation of immersive memorabilia, where it was in everyone’s nature to gain knowledge – a symbol of sanity and yet responsibility.
